Walking up to Church Street and spotted ‘flesh’ in the window of 56 North. Had to take the photo …These guys were traveling to Liverpool, and this is how they were going to stay dressed till they got there. One had a pair of Speedos and a plastic swimming ring; the second had a suit and hat made from J-Cloths; the third had a dress made from Christmas Cards and the forth had trunks and armbands.

In case you’re wondering, they did have clothes to change into. I did tell them they would be overdressed in Liverpool, especially once the Liver Birds had got hold of their flimsy outfits.

Once again we have been attacked by Ninja Cows, this time in Fife on the coastal path from Anstruther to Crail. These creatures watched us cross over a tricky stile and then made a move on us, en masse.

I don’t mind them being interested but when they start to use their heads to push you backwards and no amount of shouting, even very loudly, doesn’t make a slight bit of difference. Thankfully, there were rocks behind us to clamber up – cows don’t climb. And also we were saved by a bunch of noisy kids who were going down to the beach. Our ninja cows turned as a group and headed after them. We escaped by running for the steep cliff slopes.

Why Ninja Cows? Cause they do creep up on you and then use all four legs to jump and buck and turn in the air. Quite clever actually!

We are just back from Skye and having watched Monty and his dog, Reuben in South Uist on telly you do miss the place; rain and wind included. Monty had just been to visit St Kilda, forty-one miles off the coast of the Outer Hebrides. Like many before him had fallen for the island, even after only being there less than a day. Hats off to him for making the crossing in a Rib boat with no shelter from the elements (even if the BBC camera crew were next to him).

Sometimes you take a photograph and it just works on so many levels. It was Easter, just before the hordes from the mainland arrived and this was the site that greeted us after breakfast. Absolute peace with not a body in sight. Just think a week later you wouldn’t be able to see the sand. Or hear yourself think. Or breathe the air without the smell of chips, beer or overcooked bodies. As a beach shot it is simple and was taken quickly. If the sun loungers weren’t there then it would have failed and I know the clouds make the difference too.

This image is currently being used by a German Travel company to promote it’s holidays in Majorca. I hope they tell their holiday makers to get up early to see this view.
